Why Carpet Cleaning Must Be Done Regularly |
| |
Proper
carpet cleaning will not only keep it
clean, but will keep it looking new. Regular carpet
cleaning can reduce stains, odors, germs and allergens
found in your carpet.
Carpet cleaning is a necessity because
our feet and shoes both carry oil, dirt and other
substances that can leave stains on our carpet.
Vacuuming is the most common form of carpet cleaning.
Vacuuming your carpet regularly can remove any
loose dirt or other dry debris resting in the
carpet fibers. |
|
Carpets
should be vacuumed at least once a week. If your carpet
is used to heavy traffic (family, friends, kids, pets
etc.), it should be vacuumed more than once per week.
Vacuuming your carpet regularly will prolong its life
cycle.
Regular carpet cleaning will prolong the life of your carpet
because it prevents the buildup of small dirt and grit
particles. A buildup of dirt on your carpet can lead
to carpet stains. In addition, a buildup of dirt on
your carpet can create allergens and germs that can
seep into the aim or on your body or clothing (feet,
shoes, socks etc.).
Gritty particles deposited by your shoes onto your carpet
can tear your carpet fibers. Carpets that are repeatedly
exposed to gritty particles can get worn and appear
faded. If your carpet is exposed to heavy traffic, gritty
particles can leave certain parts of your carpet faded,
while others will look newer.
When you are vacuuming your carpet, it is very important
to pick all dirt and debris up. Most vacuums have a
tool that will let you vacuum up any dirt and debris
stuck in the different crevices around your home (stairs,
corners etc.). Use your crevice tool on your vacuum
to clean dirt and debris around any hard-to-reach places.
When you are carpet cleaning , divide your carpet
into quadrants. Vacuum one quadrant at a time, making
sure to pick up any loose debris deposited on your carpet.
Make sure to use your crevice to get around any hard-to-reach
places like corners and baseboards.
Separating your carpet in to quadrants and vacuuming
will do best for rooms in your home with wall-to-wall
carpeting. Make sure that when you are vacuuming wall-to-wall
carpeting, you vacuum the entire quadrant, and then
move on to the next. This will ensure that you pay attention
to each section of your carpet. |

Make
sure that you take your time when you are carpet cleaning. When vacuuming your carpet, make
more than one pass over each section.
You want to make sure that you get any dirt and
debris that may be embedded within the carpet
fibers.
When you vacuum your carpet, make several passes
over each section of your carpet.
This will ensure allow the vacuum’s suction
to remove all the ground in dirt and dust that
has built up in your carpet. |
|
In addition,
when carpet cleaning, make sure to pay special
attention to areas in which people tend to sit, stand
or move their feet. You will want to vacuum high traffic
areas of your carpet with a crisscross pattern. When
vacuuming these high traffic areas, the strokes of your
vacuum should overlap. You can add a little baking soda
to your vacuum bag to help fight odors when you are
vacuuming.
In addition, you can also apply baking soda to your
carpet when cleaning. Applying baking soda to your
carpet when you are vacuuming will help to absorb any
odors that are trapped in your carpet. You can also
purchase scented carpet powders to use for vacuuming.
With these powders, you sprinkle them on your carpet
and let it sit for a certain amount of time.
When the smell has been absorbed by your carpet, you
can vacuum the powder up, just as if you would normally
vacuum your carpet. These powders will help to remove
any dirt in your carpet, while leaving the carpet and
rooms in your home with a fresh scent. You can purchase
these scented powders in many different scents, it all
depends on your personal preference.
Cleaning spots, stains and spills on your carpet is
very different from vacuuming. Vacuuming will generally
clean any dry dirt and debris built-up on your carpet,
but will not necessarily remove stains. Carpet stains
can be caused by dirt build-up, food and beverage spills,
pets and other things like dirty shoes. Spots, stains
and spills on your carpet can, often times, are very
hard to remove.
When you notice that your carpet has a stain or spill,
it is important to clean it immediately. If you start
cleaning a fresh spill, you have a better chance of
removing it completely; in comparison to letting it
sit. If you let a spill sit on the carpet, it will most
likely be absorbed by the carpet fibers and be even
harder to remove.
When you have a spill, gently blot or scrap the stain
to remove as much of the spill as possible. Before you
apply a cleaning solution onto your carpet, test the
carpet cleaning solution first. To test the carpet cleaning
solution, put it in an area you will not normally see.
Testing your carpet cleaner before you use it, will
help to ensure the cleaner will not damage or discolor
your carpet during the carpet cleaning process. When you have applied the carpet cleaner
work from the outside of the stain to the inside. This
will help to prevent spreading the stain. Once you are
done cleaning the stain, blot the moisture up with a
clean towel. |
